You may have heard of a variety of LIQUI MOLY additives for various applications such as protecting or cleaning the inner parts of your vehicle engine, or the fuel delivery system on your vehicle, and so on. But have you heard of one product in particular – LIQUI MOLY Oil Additive?
LIQUI MOLY Oil Additive is the first ever product from LIQUI MOLY, reaching back over 60 years ago when it was founded in 1957. The Oil Additive contains solid lubricant molybdenum disulfide, or better known as MoS2. Today, after more than 60 years, this Oil Additive is still being produced and it now features an improved formula!
Did you know, MoS2 is used in airplane engines?
MoS2 was originally developed to maintain lubrication in piston-driven airplane engines in the event of a loss in oil pressure and to prevent complete engine seizure. In modern days, MoS2 is also used in difficult to maintain equipment, such as space vehicles, satellites and military fields. When this solid lubricant is being used in car engines, the effects were even more significant and had been proven in many cases from the past 60 years.
So, why should I use LIQUI MOLY Oil Additive on my car engine?
- Reduces friction resistance of moving parts in the engine, thus increases fuel economy
- Reduced friction also means less engine heat and noise
- This increases the efficiency and also service life of the engine
- Smoothing out the metal surfaces of pistons and cylinders by filling the inconsistencies with fine MoS2 particles.
- High pressure resistance and heat resistance up to 600 celcius
Engine wear happens even before engine oil reaches all the engine parts!
It is widely accepted that more than 70 percent of engine wear occurs during startup. This happens when you start your car after the engine has been turned off overnight or for several hours, and the engine oil has returned to the oil sump. This is when there is least and insufficient lubrication between engine moving parts, thus causing the most engine wear.
The MoS2 solid lubricant from LIQUI MOLY Oil Additive will remain on the metal surfaces in your engine even after the engine oil has returned to the oil sump, which greatly reduces the engine wear during startup!
Will it clog up my oil filter?
Nope, you can most certainly be rest assured that the MoS2 particles will not clog up your engine oil filter. This is because the particle size of the MoS2 is approximately 0.2 – 0.5µm, whereas the filter paper hole size of an average oil filter is 10 – 20µm. Due to the fine size of the MoS2 particles, even the smallest inconsistencies on the surface of the pistons or engine cylinders will be filled and smoothened out.
What are you waiting for? Protect your car engine NOW with our LIQUI MOLY Oil Additive!
One cool fact:
This oil additive is also where the company name comes from: LIQUI, because it is a liquid additive, and MOLY because of the molybdenum disulfide contents!
