Time flies and here you are wondering why your few-years-old beloved car is getting less powerful as compared to a few years back when it was still new. Yes, that smoothness of the engine when it was running and the quick response when you step on the pedal back then now turns into a rough, sluggish and fuel-thirsty car.
In fact, there are many reasons as to why your car loses power over time such as the engine interior getting dirty, injectors getting clogged, valves clogged with carbon deposits, and so on. But did you know, a dirty throttle body could also be one of the main reasons?

What is a throttle valve actually?
Well, if you think of a car as a human, the engine would be the heart, the fuel rail system which include injectors and valves would be the blood veins, and the throttle valve would be our respiratory system – our nose and lungs. Its function is to control the speed and amount of air intake into the combustion chamber to be mixed with fuel for combustion by working together with an Air Flow Sensor and the car’s ECU.
What will happen when the throttle valve gets dirty?
Have you ever experienced a stuffy nose where you couldn’t breathe through your nose and you were gasping for air? That also happens to your car when the throttle valve gets dirty and clogged up. A clogged throttle valve stops the air flow into the engine and causes its performance to drop as there is insufficient air to burn all the fuel injected into the combustion chamber. This, in turn, causes increased fuel consumption as you step on the pedal harder just to get the car going.

Alamak! How do we clean the throttle valve then?
Most of us don’t even know the existence of a throttle valve in our cars, and ofcourse most of us would not know how to clean it. The simplest way most of us could think of is to drop by to a nearest workshop to get it cleaned up and this would normally end up with you getting a shocking bill of up to hundreds or even thousands of ringgit.
But don’t worry, we got another solution that can save your wallet from a lot of pain!

Whether you own a petrol or a diesel car, the air intake system on both works similarly where fuel and air is mixed together in the combustion chamber during combustion to produce power. LIQUI MOLY has the right products for both petrol or diesel cars that can thoroughly clean the throttle valve and even in the air intake manifold, as shown in the images above.
NOTE: Use Pro-Line Throttle Valve Cleaner for petrol cars, and Pro-Line Diesel Intake System Cleaner for diesel cars only.

Both of these products are capable of removing the most stubborn deposits or residues that are clogging the throttle valve in your car. They contain active solvent and cleaning agents that loosens and removes contamination such as oil, resin, soot or other dirt that will cause the throttle valve to clog.
